Children's Ministry

The Children's Ministry is comprised of K-5th Grade. We have Bible Study groups for the children on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am. During the morning worship service (10:45 am), the children are dismissed to Children's Worship. On Wednesday nights, the children can be a part of Kid's Club at 5:30 pm (serving the fellowship dinner) and the Discovery Kid's Group at 6:30 pm.

Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20 that we are to "make disciples."  Practically every ministry we do contributes to the discipleship process. However, we offer special discipleship training at convenient times for those interested in church membership (Membership 101) and the basics of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus in covenant with the Oak Park Baptist fellowship. The Maturity Seminar (Maturity 201) helps believers develop habits that contribute to growth in their Christian lives and the Ministry Seminar (Ministry 301) helps believers discover their unique God-given SHAPE for ministry. SHAPE is an acrostic for Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Abilities, Personality, and Experiences. These three basic seminars are offered at different times throughout the year.

Food Ministry

The last Friday of every month (9:30 - 11:30 am) we distribute food to needy families who live in Alachua County. In addition to food donations from our church members, people in the community, and the Publix Supermarkets, we are a distributor for the Emergency Food Assistance Program of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Therefore, let it be know that...

Global Mission Outreach

Oak Park is committed to being an Acts 1:8 Church.  That means we want to take the Good News of salvation to our Jerusalem (Gainesville and Alachua County), Judea (Florida), Samaria (United States), and to the ends of the earth (the world).  We are very involved in many mission activities locally and beyond.  In September, 2011, we adopted Cuba as our International Mission focus. Come join us as we share the abundant life that is available through Jesus Christ, our Savior.

International Student Ministry

Some of our families have "adopted" International students to allow them to get acquainted with American customs and to have a sense of family while they are here in the states.  The main goal is to introduce them to Christ and to the fellowship of His church.

We have a weekly International Student Ministry in the Common Room of Maguire Village on Mondays from 5:30 to 9:30pm. This ministry includes free guitar, piano, and voice lessons as well as conversational English practice.

In addition we encourage participation in English as a Second Language Classes at Parkview Baptist Church located at 3403 NW 13th Street. They have classes for persons at different reading and speaking levels on Monday and Wednesday mornings 9:00 am - noon. Their phone number is 352-378-2607.

Men's Ministry

A ministry by and to men to encourage them to be men of God and men of integrity. The ministry includes a monthly men’s fellowship dinner followed by an equipping time.  We also do work and service projects throughout the year.

Music Ministry

Our Sunday morning worship services are led by our praise team (singers and instrumentalists) and our worship choir. The praise team is a select band of singers and players. The worship choir is open to adults and older youth who are willing to commit to practice and performance and to be faithful to the Sunday morning ministries of the church.

Every fifth Sunday night (which occurs in the calendar normally four times per year) we host an Evening of Praises and we welcome singers, instrumentalist, poets, etc. to participate.

At least once every year we offer a six week class that focuses on music theory and voice training. The class normally meets on Tuesday nights.

Pray Then Play Sports

Pray Then Play Sports is devoted to teaching our children how to compete in sports while exalting Christ.  In today's time sports have become a "god" to many people. Through this ministry our coach's and volunteers make an effort to teach the children (and the parents) that any sporting event should never be more important than God.

While teaching this truth, we emphasize to the children how important it is to have an actual relationship with Jesus Christ.  In the middle of every practice our coach's take a water break and lead the children in a devotional.  We also begin and end each practice and game with prayer.

For more information about Pray then Play Sports you can visit our webpage by Pray Then Play Sports.

Single Adult Ministry

A group of our single adults normally has a time of fellowship at a local restaurant after the Sunday morning services. Sometimes they gather at the church fellowship hall on Sunday afternoon or at someone's home for a movie or a time of games. Often on the weekend, Friday or Saturday, they will have a time of fellowship or go to a game or a movie. Ministry projects will be planned in the future.

Sr. Adult Ministry

Every Sunday a number of our Sr. Adults go out to a local restaurant for lunch and fellowship. On Wednesday nights several of our senior adults assist the Kid's Club with the Wednesday night dinner. Many of our seniors are involved in a number of mission actions on a monthly basis. Occasionally the senior adults go on a trip out of town or to an activity locally.

Sunday Morning Bible Study

We have a variety of classes for all age groups from nursery to senior adults.  All are invited to attend.

Bible Study starts at 9:30 am every Sunday Morning with coffee & donuts, juice and bagels at 9:00am.  Come join us!!!

WMU (Women's Missionary Union)

The Women on Mission group coordinates the missions education, monthly missions actions, and mission offerings in our church. They normally meet the first Monday of every month at 10:00 am for a time of study, prayer, planning, fellowship, and encouragement.

Women's Ministry

Our women are encouraged to grow closer to God and closer to each other.  The main event of our women's ministry is an annual spring women's retreat.  There will be a special speaker, good music, and great fellowship and food. We also have a monthly fellowship...Sweet Tuesday Ladies - a fellowship meeting on the second Tuesday of the month at 6:30 - 7:30 pm. This is a time to get to know each other, pray for one another, enjoy some refreshments and hear a short devotional. All ladies are invited

Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry at Oak Park Baptist Church is made up of grades 6-12. They have named themselves OPYG which stands for Oak Park Youth Group. They have developed their own logo. They currently meet in the modular building behind the sanctuary. They are in the process of repainting and redecorating the youth building. The group meets for Bible Study on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am. OPYG also meets on Sunday nights at 6:00 pm and Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm. Youth have the opportunities to be a part of the Kid's Club that serves Wednesday night dinners and raises money for different projects like a Van Fund, the mission partner in San Luis, Cuba and improvements tot the recreational facilities on the church property.
