Global Mission Outreach

Oak Park is committed to being an Acts 1:8 Church.  That means we want to take the Good News of salvation to our Jerusalem (Gainesville and Alachua County), Judea (Florida), Samaria (United States), and to the ends of the earth (the world).  We are very involved in many mission activities locally and beyond.  We are presently seeking God's will concerning adopting an "unreached people group".  Come join us as we share the abundant life that is available through Jesus Christ, our Savior.

 Children's Ministry

The Childrens Minstry is comprised of K-5th Grade and meets twice a week. Currently they meet Wednesday night at 6:45 and Sunday Morning during church for Childrens Church.

 Youth Ministry

The Youth Ministry at Oak Park Baptist Church is made up of grades 6-12. They have named themselves "Xcelerate Youth Group" as they "Xcelerate towards the cross". They currently meet in the building behind the sanctuary. They have a built in Coffee shop which is open to everyone 30 minutes before and after church.

Xcelerate Youth Group does have it's own website which you can see by going to oakparkbaptist.org/youth.

 Pray Then Play Sports

Pray Then Play Sports is devoted to teaching our children how to compete in sports while exalting Christ.  In today's time sports have become a "god" to many people and through this ministry our coach's and volunteers make an effort to teach the children and even the parents that any sporting event should never be more important than God.

While teaching this we reinforce to the children how important it is to have an actual relationship with Jesus Christ.  In the middle of every practice our coach's take a water break and lead the children in a devotional.  We also begin and end each practice and game with prayer.

For more information about Pray then Play Sports you can visit our webpage by clicking here.

 Men's Ministry

A ministry by and to men to encourage them to be men of God and men of integrity that includes a monthly men’s fellowship dinner followed by an equipping ministry.  We also do work and service projects throughout the year.

 Women's Ministry

Our women are encouraged to grow closer to God and closer to each other.  The main event of our women's ministry is an annual spring women's retreat.  There will be a special speaker, good music, and great fellowship and food.  More information to be posted early in 2009.

 Sunday Morning Bible Study

We have a variety of classes for all age groups from nursery to senior adults.  There is a special class called "Breaking the Chains" dealing with addictions.  Anyone is invited to attend.

Bible Study starts at 9:30 every Sunday Morning with coffee & donuts at 9:00am.  Come join us!!!

 Discipleship

Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20 that we are to "make disciples".  Practically every ministry we do contributes to the discipleship process.

We offer special discipleship training at convenient times for those interested in "Church Membership 101", or the basics of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus in covenant with the Oak Park Baptist fellowship, "Spiritual Maturity 201", and "Ministry 301".  The Maturity Seminar helps believers develop habits that contribute to growth in their Christian lives and the Ministry Seminar helps believers discover their unique God-given SHAPE for ministry.

To register call the church office at (352) 372-2730.

 WMU (Women's Ministry Union)

Women on a Mission group coordinates the missions education, monthly missions actions, and mission offerings in our church.

 International Student Ministry

Several of our families have "adopted" students from foreign countries to allow them to get acquainted with American customs and to have a sense of family while they are here in the states.  The main goal is to introduce them to Christ.

We also have a weekly International Bible Study in the Common Room of Maguire Village on Mondays from 6:00 to 7:30pm.

In addition we offer English as a Second Language Classes every Tuesday night during the college semesters  (7-9pm) in our church welcome center.
